ancient greek woman...why so fat?
Tara - February 11, 2009, 9:47 pm,
It's all about idealism. To ancient greeks, being a bit chubby was thought to be beautiful. Over the centuries, being beautiful changed to meaning, for women, big tits, plump lips, round rump, slim waist, flawless face.

For men, just look at the movie 300. Over-exaggeration at it's finest.

The term ''Rubenesque" came from the 17th century Flemish artist Paul Rubens. He was known to paint full-figured women and also, larger women were a sign of health and wealth.

Is this in fact a Rubens painting. I don't know much about art but the first thing I thought of was all of Rubens' little cherubs.

You're correct Mark, it's called "The Rape of the Daughters of Leucippus"
Mark - February 11, 2009, 10:22 pm,
Thank you sir. That saves me the trouble of looking it up.

Look...I was THERE with the other Greybeards and there was NO rape involved. We did kind of "rape" EGD's liquor cabinet, but the women were just playing.
